Hey guys! My name is Kori. I am the writer for Raising Kings Farm. This blog has been a dream and a calling in my heart for quite some time. I, along with my amazing husband and our 7 beautiful children, live on a 30 acre homestead in Northern Virginia. But that was not always the case.
We are originally from a small community in the Midwest, where farming and homesteading are still a common way of life. I honestly and unfortunately took that for granted. I thought everyone everywhere directly knew a local farmer. Boy, was I wrong!

When my husband accepted an offer for a new and exciting career, we picked up everything and moved 1,000+ miles to Northern Virginia. Through virtual calls with a local realtor we ended up in a super nice and manicured 3 level townhouse. It offered amenities galore complete with a lawn service for our 3 ft by 5 ft strip of “lawn”. I clearly remember thinking, “Wow this is the life.”
The first several months were wonderful! Then the “newness” started to wear off. I realized I hadn’t seen a single livestock animal, homestead, or even an open field since the day we moved! One night I began to miss something I never thought was possible… Dirt… Yes, I missed dirt! Brown, messy, muddy, life giving dirt. I missed it on mud boots, little kids jeans, puppy paws, and even under my fingernails. It was at that very moment that Raising Kings Farm began.

Ok no, we didn’t hop in a moving van that very moment and move to the country. But the dream was planted and it began to grow! We yearned for the simple life. We already ate a nourishing traditional diet, homeschooled our children, and tried hard to prescribe to a natural lifestyle. But we needed a place that could hold the key for self sufficiency, peace, and (you guessed it) DIRT. Hard work, patience, and caring for others were skills we desired to instill in our kiddos and could be found growing up on a homestead. Before we knew it, we found ourselves on a dreamy 3 acre lot. It was everything we had been looking and praying for and the perfect place to learn and hone in our skills.

As the family continued to grow, we decided to browse the market to see if we could find a property with a bit more room for us to stretch out. Well lo and behold, we found just that. Now, we are currently on that 30 acre homestead I mentioned. We still have a lot to learn and experience but we would love to bring you along with us! Join us as we take you inside our natural homestead life!
